Description: The Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides nutrition education and healthy foods to: WOMEN who are pregnant, who are breastfeeding their babies, or who have given birth in the last six months; INFANTS - newborn to 12 months; CHILDREN age 1-5 years. Healthy Foods you or your children may receive are: milk and cheese; infant formula; iron-rich cereals; eggs; dried beans or peanut butter. Healthy foods help children grow and develop normally. Good nutrition helps to protect your whole family against health problems. Nutrition Education gives you personal tips to help you choose nutritious foods and improve your and your family’s health. This includes information on: eating healthy during pregnancy; learning about breastfeeding and getting started after baby is born; healthy eating for mom after baby has been born; when to start baby on foods besides breastmilk or formula; smart grocery shopping. Breastfeeding mothers are eligible to receive a breastpump if returning to work or school.
